Full Speed Ahead - "One Inch At A Time"
65Keep Trying To Try
Full Speed Ahead - Yet Staying In The Moment.
There is only one way to truly live life and remain in the pursuit of your dreams and goals. That is - "Full Speed Ahead."
Full speed ahead is a must. You must find passion for your dreams and goals and go after them full speed, with all you got to give.
Give your best.
Give your best while constantly learning and re-adjusting your course. Try new ways to accomplish your goals and stay focused ahead to your dreams. There can be no looking back as life is forever forward.
That being said, too many people exaggerate how much they can accomplish in a year and hence, they fall short of their goals. Unfortunately, most people let that disappointment stop them from reaching out and continuing to push. They give up, quit and blame it on destiny.
But we have to push on. Always being true to ourselves and our goals. There is no predetermined destiny, rather a life road filled with choices and consequences for your choices and actions, or lack of actions.
Although it is true we exaggerate how much we can get done in a year, we also under estimate how much can be done in a decade. It is a balancing act. Make your dreams and goals large enough to move you into action but stay focused on just the next step.
Shoot for your dreams but "Live in the moment."
This moment is the only one there is, and it slips by with the passing of every second. That is why I say you must live your life full speed ahead one inch at a time. Be here now.
Learn to enjoy the struggles and disappointments that are certain to happen while pushing towards your dreams and goals. After all, it is this journey through time that everyone shares. This moment unfolding into the next. Your dreams and goals wont happen in an instant, so "live in the now" while pushing towards your objective.
Be open to find the magic in every moment as it passes, because each moment is itself a thing of magic. Learn to LOVE every minute of life.
"Live your life full speed ahead, one inch at a time."
At times we get stuck and forget about the moment because we are sabotaging our own self worth and success.... check this hub here for tips on getting past Self Sabotage.

Choice
I do not choose to be a common man.
It is my right to be uncommon if I can.
To seek opportunity not security.
I do not wish to be a kept citizen humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.
I want to take the calculated risk to dream, to build, to fail and to succeed.
Refuse to barter incentive for the dole.
I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence, the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a hand out.
I will never cower before a master nor bend to any threat.
It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and to act for myself.
Enjoy the benefits of my creations and to face the world boldly and say….
This; I have done.

Nice theory, Neil. It was very inspirational.

Live the moments and savour the glories.
I like my goals to be high, so the blood tingles. Fly like an eagle
Hi. The theory is nice, but hard to practice.
Quitting is not an option, I agree. But it doesn't hurt every now and then to drop the speed, contemplate and find the balance. Pushing forward, even if it is inch by inch, we just might forget to ask ourselves if we're still heading into the right direction. If you live in the now, there is no speed, nor is there a lack of it.
I guess it's all perception and interpretation then :) In my view you don't move at all, not even the smallest inch if you (for example) take the time to meditate, pray or contemplate. You simply are. Nothing more, nothing less. There is no motion, there is only now. But, like I said, I guess we're pretty much on the same page; we just use different words to describe it *smile*
You're most welcome, as this is an interesting and well written hub, Neil!
Great hub! Thanks for the important reminders about setting realistic goals, living in the moment, and loving every minute of the journey. I look forward to reading more!

Hello Neil, Thank you for a beautiful word this AM. Your writing insured my beliefs and pursuits. It is refreshing to have a reminder placed in front of me. I know the glory of staying present. It is a discipline, a choice. I know the growth that came from time spent running a muck. You are right in the difficult times there will be a silver lining. Keep on. Do not give room to the enemy to edge in . Trust in 'him' that gives life. Thank you for visiting my hubs. I believe you would enjoy my spiritual writings. I am in the club now. I will return. It is wonderful you are united with your beautiful daughter. Praise Him
Hugs
This was a very nice read. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
This is all true. Everyone should move forward. You have one life why not bring it to its full potential. dream big live big. Go all the way the only thing that can stop you is yourself! I love this hub!
A terrific, inspiring message, and at a moment when inspiration helps, a lot. Thank you, Neil.
This is inspirational. We need to hear these words! Spread them around! Great Hub!
That rare and historic snowfall in Houston yesterday made most of its inhabitants take the time to slow down and savor the moment. Most often we do not have such momentous events to break us out of our daily routines. Nice hub with good advice.
Good to read this, I cannot find the right words to sum up what I want to say - but I know what you are saying here.
Hi Neil,
This kind of message is exactly what we need for the Holidays and for New Year resolutions. Thank you and have a great Holiday, health, happiness and peace
Hmmm what a great adage for today's busy life, thanks Neil.
I really enjoyed this Hub. Especially how you said... "Although it is true we exaggerate how much we can get done in a year, we also under estimate how much can be done in a decade." This really rings a bell, and the bell rings true. Thanks for a for getting my brain going! I appreciate it!
You reminded me of several conversations I've had over the years about goal setting. We shouldn't limit our goal by trying to decide if the goal is "realistic". Anything is possible. It's the time frame we establish for that goal that needs to be realistic. A path is made one step at a time.
Seems you have learned to be resilient. Perhaps if we learn to live today, not yesterday, not tomorrow, and enjoy the process, the life lessons we are presented are better understood... Challenges equals opportunities.
I have a friend who recently started a new business and now he feels he has taken on too much. I just sent him a link to this hub as I think it will help him overcome his struggles and focus on his dreams and goals on a daily bases.
Everyday you’re one step away from the past and one step closer to your future. walk on.And yes bring me also along, neil I am also eager to see whats there hidden in the lap of nature. Thanks for all your support.
Full speed and God-speed!
What a great article! Thanks.
love it! think ill be readin afew more of your writings
Excellent - as I'd expect no less of you. And if you've read much of my stuff, you know I have similar perspectives. It's far more than theory to recognize that life is contained in the present as it happens and its only possible direction is into the next and the next. Using that awareness wisely is all-important if one wishes to be fully alive and effective.
This gets high ratings!!
This was so encouraging. If we could put into practise your advice here, it would be a win, win situation. Sometimes l think people forget to set the little goals that lead to the long-term goal. Thanks for a very interesting hub
I was raised in a typical, middle class family. Dad had a strong work ethic. Dreams were just that. But, work was real. I've always worked...the classic underachiever, I've been told. My dream is painting and writing. Just two years ago, my daughter got me canvases, paints and brushes to try my hand at something I'd always wanted to try. In a short time, I had people asking to buy my paintings. The last one I sold, I brought into work on a whim, as the President of the company liked to display my art in our lunchroom. A vendor came in I'd never met before and bought it before lunch time. Giving 100% to everything you do is the only way to approach anything worth trying. Even my "underachiever" jobs deserved everything I could give them. I decided to be the best receptionist ever hired and I was and the job became much more. And, in the process, so did I. Thank you, Neil, for your "give it your all" inspiration.
As a sidenote, I'm not sure yet where I stand on the pre-destination concept. A big part of me believes in that principal, but I'm still sorting it out.
I used to tell my students to "Aim high and hit the mark". But with caution,"if you didn't hit it, at least you tried, so don't be disappointed because, you can always aim for a better luck next time". It worked! At least this principle had taught positive attitude in them to deal with their failures.
"Shoot your dreams but live in the moment". If I had read about this earlier, it would have been a great support to my students' positive attitude who were at the stage of dreaming for their future. Great hub, useful tips.
Hi Neil, this hub is the push that I needed to get off of my self-pity and seize the moment. Thank you for the words and the reminder that...life is about living!!!
Shoot for your dreams but "Live in the moment." -- Such profound advice, such a delicate balance. But thanks for reminding us all that it can (and should) be done!
Great hub, well-written and rated up. Sorry it took this long to realize you linked to me, but thanks for that! Will share this as well!
--Just shared on Twitter :)
I'm back. I had to read this again...needed a reminder!!
This is a wonderful hub with so much good information.
I'm going to bookmark it for a read whenever I need a push.
Neil Sperling: Thank you for the insights into making and meeting short- and long-term goals. Your important emphasis on bouncing back from unexpected reversals and unpleasant surprises makes me think of your comments elsewhere about the journey is not only where you go but what you do and learn along the way.
Voted up, and all categories too,
Derdriu
P.S. Thank you for the videos!
Neal this is a very well thought out hub, I give me a clear look into the things you believe and how simple you break them down to be.
We have a lot in common, evry moment has it's own story and meaning to he who is paying attention as the moments pass by.
I ha listened to an interview with Jim Carey many years ago, and he too confirmed the moment theory long be fore I understood in in that context.
Life can only be so difficult, when you ddid not ask to be here. Hope you catch, from where I am coming.
Bless. Thanks for all, and I love the song!
Neil it's another great song :
"Wanna give up but can't give in."
I did not listen to both as I remembered you mentioned, so much artist in our world , just like writers, the secret is you.
Bob came at a time when people of the islands were actually fighting for characters. his songs were revelations in many ways I too what I saw I needed from them.
Stand up for what you believe. Nice song. Keep Trying.
Bless
